Upright (“the app”) is a symptom and standing-test tracker for people with POTS and related conditions, operated by Abhishek Singh (Sage & Stone). This policy explains what data the app handles and your rights over it.
When you use Upright, we store: your profile details if you choose to provide them (display name, birth year, sex); symptom logs you record (symptom type, severity, time); standing-test entries (heart-rate readings, optional blood-pressure readings, timestamps, notes). If you grant permission, the app reads heart-rate data from Apple Health (HealthKit) to pre-fill standing-test fields.
Health data is read-only: we never write to Apple Health, and HealthKit data is used only inside the app to fill your test entries. We do not use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than the app’s core function, and we never share it with third parties.
Your entries are stored in a Supabase database (hosted in the United States) under an anonymous account created on your device. Your data is protected by row-level security: only your device’s account can read your records. We do not collect your email address, phone number, precise location, or contacts.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. There are no ads in Upright.
Doctor reports (PDFs) are generated on your device and shared only where you choose to send them. We do not receive copies.
Upright offers optional paid subscriptions. Payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see or store your card details, billing address, or Apple ID password. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, to verify subscription status. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app-user identifier and purchase/receipt data from Apple; it does not receive your name, contact details, or any health data. Subscription information is used only to unlock paid features and is never used for advertising.
When you record a standing test, Upright can optionally capture the local weather (temperature and humidity) as context. To do this, the app requests your approximate location once, uses it immediately to fetch weather data from Open-Meteo, a weather service that receives only coarse coordinates and returns weather values, and discards it — your location is never stored, logged, or transmitted to our servers. Only the resulting weather values (for example, “31°C, 78% humidity”) are saved with your test. You can decline the location permission and the app works fully without it.
You can delete individual standing tests in the app. To delete all your data, contact us at the email below and we will remove your records. Uninstalling the app removes local access; contact us to purge server records.
Upright is not directed at children under 13.
We’ll update this page if our practices change; the date above reflects the latest revision.
